“It’s a beauty” – Bournemouth reveal new 20/21 home kit

It was on Saturday night that AFC Bournemouth chose to reveal their new 20/21 home kit, and it’s got the approval of their fanbase.

The club said via their website: “AFC Bournemouth can reveal the striking new 2020/21 Umbro home kit that will also be worn for the remaining nine games of the current campaign.

“The kit’s design takes a distinctive new approach on the Cherries’ iconic red and black stripes, incorporating a bold gradient stripe jacquard on the front, back and cuff.

“It also brings back the blackout sleeves, V-neck collar and the AFCB sign off on the back of the neck.

“The players will wear the kit for the first time against Crystal Palace on Saturday 20th June, the first ever Premier League game to be broadcast on the BBC.

“Due to Vitality’s shirt sponsorship being in place for the remaining nine games of the 2019/20 season, the kit is currently not available to pre-order or purchase. On-sale information for our new home kit will be provided ahead of the 2020/21 season.”

Cherries commercial director, Rob Mitchell, said: “Vitality has been a great supporter of the club over the past five years and I am delighted that we have been able to build upon this at such an important and exciting time of the season.

“Vitality is a brand which has a focus on health and wellbeing with a headquarters in the heart of our town.

“So, for a club which prides itself on community and healthy lifestyles, this is a perfect partnership and one that we love being a part of.”

Cherries keeper Aaron Ramsdale was left asking where were the new goalkeeper kits as it weren’t shown in the reveal video.

Bournemouth have a tough remaining nine games as they battle to avoid the drop back to the Championship.

Eddie Howe’s side are currently 18th in the table, inside the bottom three on goal difference behind Watford.

But Howe insists improved performances before the break, as well as having key personnel back in training following injury, could provide a boost.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s almost a mini-season of nine games.“I think going into the break we had a number of injuries. We really did have a backlog.

“I thought we were actually playing really well. The last game against Liverpool (on March 7) was a really strong performance, then going back we were unlucky against Burnley and Sheffield United.

“We felt like the performances had turned a corner. The results were still inconsistent but the performances were a lot better.“I hope we can carry the momentum of those performances – added with the players we have back from injury – can make a real difference for us.

“With nine games it’s such a small amount. We need to get results quickly. We are in the bottom three, so we know we have to act and we have to perform straight away.

”Reflecting on the lockdown period, the Cherries boss said he had almost tried to offer his squad “fatherly advice” to check their wellbeing.

“It felt quite strange to be cut adrift from the squad, in terms of seeing them,” added Howe.

“I spoke to them as regularly as you can do on the phone without being a bit of a nuisance to them.“Some of them are just so young, and you are almost trying to give them fatherly advice and check they are okay.

“It can be a long way from home – sometimes in a foreign country – all these things need to be considered.

“It wasn’t just me as part of that team. We have a team of people trying to make sure the players have every need catered for.

“But it’s the mental strain, the mental side of life that you need to make sure they are prepared for.”
