Hugo Lloris signs new Tottenham contract until 2024

Hugo Lloris has signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with Tottenham, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2024.

Spurs confirmed the news on Friday morning after weeks of speculation.

The club captain has been in superb form over the last year or so and appears to have fully bought into Antonio Conte’s approach.

His new deal means Tottenham are now not under any pressure to bring in a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer.

It would have been a difficult task to replace Lloris with a player of the required quality, so the Frenchman staying put is a huge relief.

That said, the Londoners really should be looking at long-term replacements, given the fact Lloris has just turned 35.

They should also be identifying a new deputy as Pierluigi Gollini – who has been far from impressive since joining on loan – will return to Atalanta at the end of the season.

All in all, this is more than positive news for Spurs. The club can now focus its energies on strengthening the squad with new signings before the end of the month.
