Houston Dash: Coach James Clarkson made a number of moves over the offseason in an effort to move the club forward in his second year at the helm. While English international Rachel Daly scored a brace in opening play for the Dash, newly-acquired forwards Katie Stengel and Shea Groom made an impact on the pitch for Houston, with Groom scoring the third goal for Houston.

OL Reign: Led by new coach Farid Benstiti, the club showed a dedication to establishing its overall shape and build-up of play in the first match. Will the Reign continue to look more methodical in this match? Long-time club veteran Jess Fishlock is still listed as out on the injury report for this match with a lower right leg as the Reign will look for someone to provide a vicious presence for the squad.

    Game prediction

Houston was able to find its scoring early thanks to Daly, who is questionable for this match with a right thigh injury. Look for Stengel and Groom to stay hungry. Pick: Houston Dash 2, OL Reign 1.
