Højbjerg and Boufal to be assessed

Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed that midfielders Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Sofiane Boufal will be assessed ahead of the trip to Watford on Sunday.

Boufal missed the duration of Thursday night’s defeat against Arsenal at St Mary’s with a thigh injury, whilst Højbjerg was forced off with an ankle injury during the second half.

Defender Jack Stephens will join Moussa Djenepo on the suspension list following his late sending off on Thursday.

“We know that Pierre was a little injured yesterday when he stepped off with an ankle problem. We don’t know if it’s enough yet [to keep him out].”

The manager also hinted that the side facing Watford will feature a change in personnel in some areas, following the quick turnaround between games.

“We will need some fresh players for the weekend. Yesterday was intense and we’ll be against a side fighting for their life.”
