Hoddle makes prediction ahead of Blues vs Los Blancos clash

Glenn Hoddle has opined that Real Madrid will be boosted by the return of captain Sergio Ramos to action ahead of their UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

However, he believes that the Blues will get the job done against Los Blancos and has backed them to go through to the finals of the competition.

The Blues started the first leg at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium as the lively side and took the lead through Christian Pulisic shortly after Timo Werner struck a close-range effort at Thibaut Courtois.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s men failed to capitalize on their early dominance of the game before Karim Benzema sent an unstoppable volley past Edouard Mendy in Chelsea’s goal for the equalizer and set up an exciting second leg in which the Spaniards will fancy their chances despite Chelsea’s away goal advantage.

The return of Sergio Ramos who has been passed fit for the game on Wednesday night as a major boost for the Zinedine Zidane-led side and Hoddle believes that his return will be significant.

However, when asked if Chelsea can finish the job they started in Spain in a chat with the Evening Standard, he said: ‘Yes, I do. I said before the first leg that I thought over two legs they would get through.

‘They are not playing the greatest Real Madrid side ever. I think Real will have a stronger side at the Bridge on Wednesday than they had in the first leg and I think Chelsea are going to have to play well.

‘But I thought there were major parts of that first leg where Chelsea were in control and should have got the second goal.

‘Sergio Ramos will strengthen Real if he comes back in but I think Chelsea should be buoyant, they should be positive and I think they will win the game.

‘They are playing with a lot of confidence and Thomas Tuchel has done a wonderful job.’

This game will be exciting as Real Madrid should come out guns blazing. They need a win or a high-scoring draw to qualify whilst Chelsea also need a win or a goalless draw to pull through. We have a game on our hands as Los Blancos will look to exert their European dominance on the Blues.
