Gonzalo Higuan shines with his first hat-trick in Miami and becomes the player of the week

Gonzalo Higuan continues to have great games with Inter Miami and after scoring his first hat-trick for the East Coast side, he was named MLS Player of the Week on Monday.

Higuan’s goals were crucial for the team as they helped the match against FC Cincinnati end in a 4-4 tie on Sunday.

Higuan, a former player for Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, Chelsea and more, won the award for the second time in his career, after winning it on matchday five last season.

    Gonzalo Higuan’s goals

This Saturday ‘Pipita’ Higuan was dispatched with a perfect hat-trick, as his ‘hat-trick’ came in different forms.

    Goal count

The first goal came from a free kick and he launched a powerful shot with his right foot to the goalkeeper’s post.

Later, with the score at 1-1, he scored his second one thanks to a through ball he received inside the box. Higuan received the ball and then beat the goalkeeper to finally score with a free kick.

Finally, his last goal came near the end of the first half, after converting from the 11th penalty spot with a perfect shot to the right side.

    Seven goals so far

Gonzalo Higuan has seven goals so far this season and his team is in eleventh position in the Eastern Conference, three points away from the playoffs, so the following matches will be of critical importance for Phil Neville’s team.

In the next round, Inter Miami will visit the San Jose Earthquakes, who are at the bottom of the Western Conference table.
