Chelsea’s summer recruitment plans are well and truly underway, though Frank Lampard has insisted that the club have not made a bid for Kai Havertz.
The fourth-placed Premier League side have already secured the capture of the talented forward duo, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, who are likely to join up with their new teammates next month, although they won’t be available to play for the west London club until the onset of next season.
Despite already securing two high profile signings, the Blues have also been linked with having an interest in Bundesliga sensation, Kai Havertz, the German having netted six times in seven outings since the restart of German football in mid-May.
The 21-year-old is attracting attention from across Europe, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all said to be keen on the Leverkusen attacker, while reports have suggested that Chelsea have lodged an £80 million bid.
However, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday’s massive clash against Man City at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard insisted that the club have made no such bids.
“He’s obviously a top player, but to carry on from my answer before I’m certainly not going to comment on other players at other teams. And it cannot be our focus. So, nothing to say.
“No. No bids have gone in.”
Chelsea are currently five points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United in the race for the top four, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side hosting Sheffield United at Old Trafford this evening.
