Have a look at who they thought would finish from 24th to 1st below, some will surprise, others not so…
24) HARROGATE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Sulphurites to finish in 24th place (relegated) for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Last season was Harrogate’s first year of regression since 2016-17, in the National League North. Their long serving manager has added the experienced Joe Mattock from Rotherham, but Jack Diamond’s loan ended. Fail to fix defensive woes and this could be a dogfight.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 13th place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 19th.
23) HARTLEPOOL
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Pools to finish in 23rd place (relegated) for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Tim Odusina and Luke Molyneux are huge losses for the club, who hope those set backs can be offset by smart signings from Scotland. Joe Grey and Tom Crawford may go up a gear, but Hartley’s Highland hires – numbering four before June;s end – must adjust to League Two fast.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 22nd place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 17th.
22) COLCHESTER
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the U’s to finish in 22nd place for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Wiredu has departed while other key players ate linked away, so if 2021-22’s go to veterans such as Sears and Cole Skuse were to drop off, pressure could grow unduly on talented youngsters such as noah Chilvers and Junior Tchamadeu. Brown needs to make a fast start.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 21st place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 15th.
21) ROCHDALE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Dale to finish in 21st place for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: External recognition can do only so much for a fanbase when their team finishes 18th after dropping a division; Dale must turn plaudits into points. Toumani Diagouraga adds midfield flair but Charman, Tahvon Campbell and Devante Rodney all need to be more clinical.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 14th place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 18th.
20) STEVENAGE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Boro to finish in 20th place for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: With Michael Bostwick returning and 6ft 8in keeper Aaron Chapman coming in, Stevenage’s set piece troubles should be a thing of the past. Evans will drill his team into shape well enough, but they may not have sufficient forward options to do more than merely survive.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 12th place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 21st.
19) BARROW
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Bluebirds to finish in 19th place for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Barrow’s first two campaigns back in the league have been dogfights, but Wild may change that, having previously worked wonders with Oldham and Halifax. The club possess a decent XI when they’re managed correctly, but still look a tad short on depth and firepower.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 17th place for the 2021/22 League Two campaign – instead they finished 22nd.
18) GRIMSBY
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Mariners to finish in 18th place for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: The club have bounced back into the Football League, with the right ownership regime and a good manager in Hurst.
Losing Fox in midfield will hurt and Grimsby may not make an instant impression on the league, but the foundations for growth are most definitely in place.
17) CREWE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Railwaymen to finish in 17th place for the 2022/23 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Poor recruitment resulted in the club being relegated with a whimper – Long was the only hit in their last two transfer windows. Morris must pick up the pieces and it won’t be an easy fix, although signing Courtney Baker-Richardson and Conor Thomas is a good start.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 20th place for the 2021/22 League One campaign – instead they finished 24th.
