Ander Herrera has suggested that his former Manchester United teammate Paul Pogba just needs to add consistency if he wants to join Real Madrid.
Herrera played with Pogba for three years at Old Trafford, with the midfield pair helping the club win the Europa League and EFL Cup double in the 2016-17 season.
Spanish star Herrera left United to join Paris Saint-Germain last summer, and there has also been talk of an exit for Pogba, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid or a return to Juventus.
If he was to choose the first option, Pogba would be able to team up with his French compatriot Zinedine Zidane as manager – although before Madrid press ahead with a bid, the 27-year-old may have to perform at the top level more regularly.
Asked by AS (via Sport Witness) about whether Pogba would be a good signing for Madrid, Herrera said: “Paul has it all, but a player of that price is required to be always very good.
“If he is able to have regularity in his game, it will be normal for Madrid or any other big club in Europe to want to sign him.”
Pogba has struggled with consistency since returning to United for a then-world record transfer fee in 2016, although he was named in the PFA Team of the Year last season after helping France to win the World Cup in 2018.
Former United striker Teddy Sheringham was among those to suggest Pogba’s time at Old Trafford is up recently, although his chances of re-joining Juventus took a hit when the players proposed in a swap by the Italian side decided they were not keen on moving the other way.
