FA Cup semifinal draw, quarterfinal scores: Manchester United to play Chelsea; Arsenal faces City or Newcastle

The 2019-20 FA Cup semifinals are pretty much set, and boy will there be some heavyweight battles from here on out. After Manchester United booked its ticket on Saturday by beating Norwich City, Arsenal and Chelsea advanced on Sunday before the late game between Manchester City and Newcastle. If City does advance, the semifinals will consist of four of the biggest teams in England.

The draw for the semifinals took place during the City-Newcastle game, and here is how the draw played out:

Well, well, well. We could get a Manchester derby or a London derby in the final potentially. Chelsea and Arsenal met in the final of the Europa League last season with the Blues winning. The United-Chelsea tie is a toss-up as they are pretty even in the Premier League, though I’d give a slight edge to the Blues. If City goes through, they have a clear path to the final against an Arsenal side they just beat 3-0. If Newcastle makes the semifinal, Arsenal should have enough there to advance.

All in all, City is the favorite to win the cup and can prioritize the competition over the league after Liverpool clinched the Premier League title on Thursday when City lost at Chelsea.
