    FA Cup Second Round tie postponed due to late investigation into Forest Green Rovers

    An FA Cup Second Round tie due to take place at Blackpool has been postponed due to late investigation into opponents Forest Green Rovers.

    The Tangerines went through to the second round with a 2-0 win against National League side Bromley, while their opponents Forest Green needed a replay to knock National League North club Scarborough Athletic out of the competition, drawing 1-1 initially before winning 5-2 in the replay.

    The fixture between Blackpool and Forest Green had been set to take at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick off).

    But has been postponed less than 24 hours before getting underway due to an FA investigation with fans already making the trip with hotels booked.

    Forest Green said in a statement via their official website: “Forest Green Rovers are aware of an FA investigation, meaning our FA Cup tie against Blackpool tomorrow is postponed.

    “We will comply with the FA in their investigation and will provide a full update to supporters in the coming days once the investigation is complete.

    “Forest Green Rovers apologises to both FGR and Blackpool fans who planned to attend tomorrow’s fixture.”

    Blackpool meanwhile said: “The Club can confirm Saturday’s FA Cup second round tie at home to Forest Green Rovers has been postponed.

    “This decision has been made by the FA due to an investigation in relation to a matter involving Forest Green Rovers.

    “Blackpool Football Club would like to apologise to supporters for the inconvenience this has caused and is disappointed to be informed of this news at such short notice.

    “Further details on the outcome of the investigation will be announced in due course.”

    FA STATEMENT:

    We are investigating a matter in relation to Forest Green Rovers’ involvement in the Emirates FA Cup, relating to the eligibility of a player used by Forest Green Rovers in the first round.

    As a result, Forest Green Rovers’ second-round fixture away at Blackpool FC, which was scheduled for Saturday 2 December, has been postponed.

    This matter is subject to an ongoing investigation and we will provide a further update in due course.

    Meanwhile a week ago, the FA confirmed Barnsley had been kicked out of the FA Cup with Horsham reinstated for the Second Round where they’ll play Sutton United.

    The League One outfit were removed from the 2023/24 season’s FA Cup following an administrative error’ regarding the eligibility of a player.

    Barnsley have since apologised to their supporters in a statement, saying an internal investigation has been conducted after unintentional mistake.

    This is how fans reacted with the FA Cup Second Round tie at Blackpool postponed due to a late investigation into Forest Green Rovers…

    @DarrenHumphri12: Must have served an undercooked plant based burger.

    @tombfcpriv: Give us a bye

    @JOEWILLS13: Which has made me feel bad because it’s the last thing I want with there being a freeze at the moment, I have never known a game to be postponed for this reason ever.

    @slot_car_pete: Have @forestgreenr done a Barnsley?

    @John87731808: Would be surprised if they did what Barnsley did since and investigation would’ve been done sooner

    @ashtonbfc22: Shove ye vegie burger up your arse

    @BrixTuohy: Flying over from Holland tomorrow morning…. cheers Vegans

    @DanielFranks85: You what

    @jordansmith_bfc: Not a single normal day support this football club I swear ????????

    @Azul_76: What’s going on here then?

    @Skybluekid87: If you can’t MEAT your obligations and fulfill the fixture you have to give the other a PIE… sorry I meant a bye.

    @BRowlesy: Just arrived – What a fucking joke!

    @SarahmontSm: Any ideas what this is about?

    @heyit5sam: Who’s been swapping vegan pies for meat ones then

    @ChrisF45h7g4skp: Wonder what this is about ????

    @Rover98FGR: Obviously, if the club is at fault then heads should roll, but piss poor timing from the FA as well

    @CallumScreen: Shambles club give Scarborough the tie

    @Adammm_15: Be fuming if you’ve booked the weekend up in Blackpool

    @capaled: Wonder what this involves

    @Markysix: What are Forest Green being investigated for…traces of steak in the hummus pies?

    @bants90: Less than 24hours before the game. Just kick them out of the competition and reimburse every fan from Forest Greens pocket.

    @mattyadders: @safc get your #FACup boots back out. You’re off to Blackpool in the near future.

    @Jack_fgr: A weekend of not watching us loose. Get the fuck in

    @SeasidersTango: @FootballAssoc as a @BlackpoolFC supporter I think it’s pretty shitty you’ve called off tomorrow’s fa cup tie pool v forest green with no explanations, People travel, make hotel reservations, trains etc and by not giving any explanation your taking the piss out of the fans.

    @awbuswell: BREAKING ???? Forest Green Rovers have been disqualified from this seasons FA Cup for selling a non-vegan burger to Shella during their replay against Scarborough Athletic.
