Every Liverpool fan saw Jurgen Klopp winning Premier League

At the fifth time of asking since taking over in October 2015, Jurgen Klopp has delivered the Premier League title to end Liverpool fans 30-year wait.

Ask a Liverpool fan about their trust in Jurgen Klopp and they will agree it is greater than 100 percent. They will go to any distance to support the German manager. And the former Mainz 05 tactician deserved that trust, he has made possible what many thought was never going to happen.

The title was not delivered in his first year as Liverpool manager. Not in his second year at the helm. But it has taken Klopp five years to achieve the unthinkable.

    Five years under Klopp

Jamie Carragher admitted that he had given up hopes of watching the Premier League title head to Anfield. Such was the gloomy nature of events at Merseyside. But Klopp gave the Kop what they had been missing for the last thirty years.

However, it was Chelsea who delivered the crowning moment. Not that Liverpool had not earned it but the coronavirus pandemic had delayed the moment Reds fans had waiting for an eternity.

Ironically, it was the Blues who had thwarted their ambitions some years ago. But that is in the past. This is the most dominating Premier League side of all time and none question their title credentials.

    Synergy with FSG

It could not have been possible without Fenway Sports Group. The Boston based entity have put their faith in the club and Klopp.

But they have not sit by idly. They have transformed the operations of the club. FSG have introduced a ruthless managerial oversight that has turned them into modern day juggernauts.

It did not happen overnight like it did at Chelsea. Or a couple of years, like at Manchester City. Liverpool and FSG’s synergy took a decade to bear fruit. It was truly worth the wait.

    More to come

Klopp has changed in his approach over the years. He was not known to be a manager who can tackle big stars and their demands. Philippe Coutinho certainly comes to mind.

No one can doubt that now. He has overseen the purchase of two players who commanded over €150 million combined. Allison and Virgil van Dijk are first team regulars.

Moreover, Klopp has put to bed issues between Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. The Egyptian King is the star attraction with Mane following behind. Any distrust between the two has been managed behind the scenes.

The hard work put in by everyone involved is being neglected in the media but it should be remembered. Liverpool have a history of self-destruction but they have matured beyond this.

The future looks bright for them but they need more silverware to prove their mention amongst the best club sides of all time.

They have to emulate Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and target Sir Alex Ferguson’s three successive Premier League winning side.
