“As you may have already learned, I unfortunately had to leave the team due to a groin injury. A big disappointment, especially because it would be my first European Championship and unfortunately I can’t be there now.

The Netherlands have not called up a replacement for van de Beek, instead choosing to stick with their other midfield options. They play in Group C of Euro 2020 with games against Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia, all of which will be played at home in Amsterdam.
