DOL clubs advised to stay in lower-tier if they can’t meet club licensing requirements in GPL

The chairman of the Club Licensing Board, Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh has advised clubs in the Division One League to stay in the lower-tier if they cannot meet the requirements in the Ghana Premier League.

Following the setting up of the board by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) last year, they have been stressing on enforcing the regulations to ensure clubs do what they are supposed to do.

Ahead of the possible start of the new football season, Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuako and his board is bent on strictly enforcing the regulations, especially in the top-flight league.

Speaking to Happy FM, the former Kotoko management member has urged clubs in the lower-tier to stay there if they know they cannot meet the requirements in the Ghana Premier League.

“We have gotten to a point where we would have to advise those who don’t have the means to run a club in the premier league professionally to wait in the lower divisions until they can”, he noted.

Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh continued, “Everyone wants to be called chairman so instead of merging with other clubs to have one big professional club running effectively, we have a lot of ‘small’ clubs running under various individuals who cannot meet the standards. So it makes it difficult implementing the licensing rules”.
