Depay excitement mounts as Barca’s new signing makes it two in two

Barcelona’s Dutch connection combine for stunning pre-season goal as fan excitement mounts over Depay

The Barcelona faithful were treated to a wonderful pre-season goal this evening, with excitement surrounding the potential impact of Memphis Depay, in turn, beginning to mount.

    Blaugrana latest

The summer, to date, has of course proven an altogether tumultuous one at the Camp Nou.

First off, the future of star man Lionel Messi was thrown up in the air, after the Argentine’s contract in Catalunya expired at the beginning of the month.

Whilst other European heavyweights continue to add world-class talent to their ranks, meanwhile, the Blaugrana’s financial woes have seen them unable to dip into the market for any kind of game-changing additions.

Such constraints have led to unrest amongst the club’s fanbase, doubled down on following confirmation that Ronald Koeman would remain in charge for the 2021/22 campaign.

Despite their mounting monetary problems, though, Barca’s board, to their credit, have continued to work hard in a bid to secure low-cost reinforcements to this point in the summer.

Such efforts have culminated in all of Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, Emerson Royal and Memphis Depay making their way to the Camp Nou.

    Memphis magic

And, as outlined above, on Saturday, one of the aforementioned stars has seen his name take centre stage on social media.

The player in question? Memphis Depay.

Dutch international Depay, after netting in his debut outing in Blaugrana colours last weekend, was handed his first start for the club this evening, versus Stuttgart.

And the ex-Manchester United man took little time in making his presence felt once more, latching onto a pinpoint pass from fellow countryman Frenkie de Jong, lifting the ball over the head of an incoming Stuttgart defender, before lashing home an unstoppable right-footed volley:

And the Barcelona faithful, in turn, have since reacted in numbers, making crystal clear their excitement regarding the potential impact set to be made by Depay over the season ahead:
