De Bruyne update as Guardiola confirms Ederson plans for final fixtures

FPL bosses take note: De Bruyne fitness update surfaces as Guardiola confirms Ederson plans for final fixtures

A pair of noteworthy updates surrounding Manchester City’s squad have been forthcoming on Monday.

    Blues clash on the horizon

The Sky Blues are of course currently revving up preparations for the Champions League final.

After ousting Paris Saint-Germain in impressive fashion in the competition’s final-4, Pep Guardiola and co. set up a showpiece showdown with fellow Premier League heavyweights Chelsea.

The clash is set to play out on Saturday the 29th of May, at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.

If City go on to get the better of Chelsea, and secure their first ever Champions League crown in the process, it will round out a remarkable campaign on the part of the Manchester giants.

This comes with a League Cup and Premier League double already in the bag, with the Citizens’ shot at an unprecedented quadruple having only been ended at the hands of their upcoming opponents, in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

    KDB returns

City’s cup defeat to Chelsea, though, was swiftly followed by another at the hands of the Pensioners, in the Premier League.

In turn, it has been suggested by some that Thomas Tuchel may just have Pep Guardiola’s number, ahead of the clubs locking horns for the third time in the space of a little over a month next weekend.

The Spaniard, in turn, will no doubt be desperate to have as many of his key performers fit and available as possible, ahead of a potentially historic night in Sky Blues history.

And, on Monday, a positive update on the wellbeing of one of the club’s star men has indeed been forthcoming.

Speaking in a press conference this afternoon, Guardiola confirmed that Kevin De Bruyne – who was forced to sit out City’s last two outings with a thigh injury – has now returned to training:

‘He’s training the last two days and he feels good.’

This of course comes as a significant update not only for the Citizens, but also Fantasy Football managers, with the Belgian potentially set to feature versus Brighton and/or Everton over the coming week, to build fitness ahead of the Champions League final.

In addition to providing an insight into KDB’s wellbeing, meanwhile, Guardiola also opened up on the chances of Ederson maintaining his place between the posts for his side’s final two Premier League fixtures.

The Brazilian remains in the thick of the race for the Golden Glove, requiring just one more shutout to clinch his 3rd prize in the space of four years.

And his manager, in turn, has confirmed that he is ready to hand his no.1 the best possible chance to do exactly that, with Guardiola having simply stated:

‘Ederson is going to play the next two games.’
