David James Claims There Is One Big Reason Why Gabriel Jesus Should Snub Arsenal Switch

Former Manchester City goalkeeper David James has questioned why Gabriel Jesus would want to leave the Premier League champions for Arsenal.

The arrival of Erling Haaland has raised doubts over Jesus’s playing time but James doesn’t think it will be an issue. Manager Pep Guardiola does tend to rotate players pretty regularly and James believes the prospect of winning City’s first-ever Champions League should be motivation enough to remain at the Etihad:

“This isn’t a buy-a-player-and-use-him-all-the-time situation, so there is still room for Jesus and why would he want to leave? You’ve got the best team in England over the past five years, so would he risk it by moving somewhere else to Arsenal, who aren’t even in the Champions League, or would he rather stay at Man City and try to get the Holy Grail, which is the Champions League?”

Despite James’ pertinent remarks, though, reports do suggest that Jesus is determined to leave City this summer. With the Brazilian having only a year left on his contract, the club may have no choice but to sell up if he is unwilling to pen to paper on a new deal.

Arsenal are not the only team interested in Jesus, with Tottenham and a number of foreign clubs also said to be keen on securing the 25-year-old’s signature, so we shall see where the striker ends up.
