Hernan Crespo has described his compatriot Lautaro Martinez as a complete player and wants the forward to stay put at Inter Milan and snub a move to Barcelona.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the course of an impressive 2019/20 season where has already scored 16 goals in 31 games.
However, the former Inter Milan, Chelsea and Argentina striker believes that the forward should remain at Inter Milan and establish himself wholly before opting for a big move elsewhere.
“I would like him to stay at Inter because this has been his first year as a starter,” Crespo told David de las Heras on YouTube while discussing Lautaro’s future.
“I wish he had a bit more of a solid foundation before another change comes. Trains slow down at the best stations and Lautaro is one of them.”
It can be recalled that Crespo spent four seasons with Inter Milan and won three Serie A titles with them. Presently, he’s the head coach of Defensa y Justicia in Argentina’s Primera Division.
The 44-year-old is pleased with Lautaro’s development, with the young forward also having scored 9 international goals in 17 games for Argentina.
“He is a very serious and focused boy. I really like that. He has a lot of personality,” Crespo added.
“He is a complete player who can play in attack both alone and accompanying another striker.”
Lautaro Martinez is already preparing for a return to action in the Serie A with Inter Milan after a COVID-19 enforced break. The Serie A will be returning on June 20.
Inter Milan appear to have fallen away in the race for the 2019/20 Serie A title with Lazio and Juventus being the top runners for the trophy presently.
Hopefully, Lautaro can be instrumental for Antonio Conte’s men alongside Romelu Lukaku and put Inter within reach of the Serie A title again.
