Courtois’ dad blasts Hazard for laughing with Chelsea team

Thibaut Courtois’ father has blasted Eden Hazard for unprofessionalism after he was pictured laughing and smiling after Real Madrid were eliminated from the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League by Chelsea on Wednesday night.

It was Hazard’s first return to Stamford Bridge after his exit to Real Madrid in a huge deal in 2019. After the game, he was seen smiling with his former colleagues Kurt Zouma and Edouard Mendy.

These reactions by the Belgian at full-time after his side’s elimination has seen fans vent their frustration, leading to Courtois’ father brandishing the playmaker as unprofessional.

‘Its really not smart for Eden to do that,’ Thierry Courtios told HLN Sportcast.

‘He probably didn’t think twice about it, but those images are painful for Real Madrid fans.

‘If you see a player laughing two minutes after being eliminated, I’d say it was unprofessional.’

Hazard also shared an intimate moment with Cesar Azpilicueta and appeared to wish him well ahead of the final against Manchester City in Turkey.

One fan wrote: ‘Eden Hazard just got knocked out of the Champions League and this is his reaction after the game’.

While another added: ‘Eden Hazard could genuinely not care less about Real Madrid.’

Meanwhile, Marca wasted no time in republishing the images of Hazard online alongside the condemning headline: ‘The image of Hazard laughing after the elimination that outrages madridismo.’

Real Madrid fans were disappointed with his performance on the night as well as his actions after the game. After being passed fit for the game, fans had hoped that he would help them reach another European final.

However, this was not the case as he was stifled by a solid Chelsea side who had a game plan in hand. The same could not be said of Zinedine Zidane’s men.

Hazard took to Instagram later to state that it was not his intention to anger the fans of the club, adding that it is a dream to play for Real Madrid. His Instagram story read:

‘I am sorry. I have read a lot of opinions about me today and it wasn’t my intention to offend Real Madrid fans.

‘It has always been my dream to play for Real Madrid and I came here to win.

‘The season is not over and together we must now battle for La Liga. Hala Madrid!’
