City And 3 PL Rivals Had Scouts ‘In Attendance’ To Watch Forward Who Has Been Compared To Maradona

Manchester City had scouts watching Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at the weekend, according to 90min.com.

The website says that representatives from the Premier League champions were “in attendance” as Georgia lost 3-1 to Spain in a European Championship qualifier.

Kvaratskhelia also has plenty of other suitors, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle said to have sent observers on Sunday evening as well.

The 22-year-old, who has been nicknamed “Kvaradona” after Diego Maradona, would have impressed those watching on as he got on the scoresheet against Spain, slotting away Georgia’s equaliser to make it 1-1.

It’s been a productive international break for Kvaratskhelia, who also scored a brace against Scotland in a 2-2 draw last week.

Napoli won’t allow Kvaratskhelia to leave without a fight

The Serie A champions are currently trying to tie down the Georgian international to a new contract. The winger only moved to Italy last summer, and his current deal expires in 2027, but they are keen to prevent him from leaving.

With Victor Osimhen also being tipped for a transfer, Napoli are very reluctant to sell two of their key players in such a short space of time.

Do City need to sign another winger?

Pep Guardiola’s side recently splashed out on Jeremy Doku, with the Belgian international having cost £55.5m to bring him in from Rennes last summer.

With Kvaratskhelia preferring to play on the same wing as Doku, it would be a surprise if City wanted to invest a hefty sum on a similar player.

You would think that, if the Cityzens do make a concerted effort to buy Kvaratskhelia, either in January or at the end of the season, it would spell the end for Jack Grealish.

The England international has not had the most productive season so far, having failed to score in 13 appearances in all competitions.
