Chelsea target makes decision on future | Shoot

Chelsea will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues have endured a difficult season so far and were beaten 2-1 by rivals Manchester United on Wednesday evening.

A Scott McTominay brace earned the Red Devils a crucial three points at Old Trafford, inflicting a sixth Premier League defeat of the season on Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The result leaves Chelsea languishing in tenth place in the top flight table, and they now face a Toffees side that beat high-flying Newcastle United on Thursday evening.

Sean Dyche’s side beat the Magpies 3-0 at Goodison Park, marking a third victory in their past five league games.

Ahead of the game, it appears that one of Chelsea’s transfer targets has made a decision on his future.

Maignan is considering his future in Milan

According to 90min, AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is considering his future and could decide to leave the Italian club.

It is claimed that Chelsea were interested in the Frenchman over the summer, when they were in negotiations with Milan over the sales of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic.

Both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy departed Stamford Bridge during the recent summer transfer window, and the Blues were therefore in the market for a new ‘keeper.

The move for Maignan never materialised, though, and Chelsea instead signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Maignan, 28, has established himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers over the past few seasons.

The France international has kept 35 clean sheets in 84 games since joining Milan from French side Lille in 2021.

His current contract is set to run until 2026 but the report claims that talks over an extension have failed to progress, with Maignan keen to ensure his fine form is rewarded by his new deal.

Maignan is a product of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system, and the French giants are said to be in pole position to sign the player at present.
