Carabao Cup opener sees the first team to exit confirmed

The Carabao Cup begun this weekend for the 2021/22 season and the opener sees the first team to exit the competition confirmed.

Yes, while most of the First Round ties get underway on the 10th of August, the tournament sees two fixtures played out, one on Saturday and another on Sunday.

For the first of the two, AFC Bournemouth of the Championship played host to Milton Keynes Dons from League One, with their manager under speculation that he’s off to Swansea City.

On the 15th minute, it was the Cherries who started the more promising start, with their overlap causing problems as Stacey’s cross was almost turned home by Anthony before Brooks forced a save from the goalkeeper.

Halfway through the first half, it was almost the opener for Bournemouth, a brilliant build-up play saw Brooks race onto Billing’s clever cut-back but he drilled his effort over.

Then on the 36th minute, Kilkenny clipped a beautiful lofted pass into the box for David Brooks to volley home superbly to send the fans inside the Vitality Stadium wild.

A minute into the second half, Solanke was played in on goal, but was offside. Then just after that, Bournemouth doubled their lead. Kilkenny sprayed a lovely pass to Brooks, he found Smith on the underlap and his low cross reaches Solanke, who swiveled and fired home.

The 51st minute saw a big block produced from MK Dons’ Darling to deny Solanke from getting a third, then Twine had his dipping free-kick saved by Travers.

The goals didn’t stop there despite MK Dons trying to get back in the game.

On the 72nd minute, cool as you like, it was 3-0 to Bournemouth. Great pressure from the frontline as Billing won the ball back at the edge of the box and tucked the ball home.

Time for a fourth? You bet ya. Bournemouth went 4-0 up against MK Dons to definitely book their place into the Second Round.

This time is was a much touching moment as it was Christian Saydee on his professional debut, a great time to open your account.

Stanislas drove the ball across the box and Saydee tucked it home on the 80th minute.

The hosts went on to make it 5-0 three minutes later, what an impact from Christian Saydee. The debutant won the ball back on the half-way line, found Brooks, who passed it home to seal the comfortable win.
