Former Argentine world champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez gave an interview to “Lo Simple No Vale” magazine where he analyzed the best boxers of the moment.
Many specialized media make a list every month with the best fighters in the world, this time Martinez made his own and surprised with his best boxer in the world.
The best pound for pound of “Maravilla” Martinez
Martinez was very sincere analyzed the boxers and without hesitation gave the one who for him is the best in the world: “Usyk, for me, is the one. I like him very, very much. I have him as first, pound for pound”.
In his list he talked about Gervonta Davis, Terrence Crawford, Tyson Fury and Naoya Inoue. And as a bonus he talked about Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
“Canelo Alvarez too, beyond having lost the last one. He is a great champion. I was going to say he’s a piece of a boxer, but he’s more than that: a tremendous champion.”
“Maravilla” Martnez will return to the ring
Sergio Martinez retired in June 2014, after losing to Miguel Cotto, on that occasion the Argentine fell three times to the canvas in the first round, then decided to leave the contest in the 10th episode.
Martinez returned to the ring on August 21, 2020 against Jose Miguel Fandino, whom he defeated in seven rounds. His last fight was on January 27, 2022.
“Maravilla” could return to the ring in the fall of this year.
