In a contest between two sides who are desperately seeking a boost in midweek, Verona will host Fiorentina on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Verona might have managed to mark their return from the international break with a 2-0 win against Cagliari on the road, it proves that could have been just a minor bounce for the Italian strugglers. Putting in another worrying display over the weekend, I Gialloblu were hit with a 3-1 drumming against Sampdoria on their travels and Head Coach Ivan Jurić has seen his side lose five of their last six Serie A matchups. In fact, with just a single win to their name since the middle of February, Verona have also continued to show a host of issues on home soil. Losing each of their last three top-flight contests at The Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi, it’s also worth highlighting that Tuesday’s hosts have remarkably failed to record a single home clean sheet since way back on October 19th.
As for the visitors, also hit with their own 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sassuolo over the weekend, the mood in Fiorentina’s camp will be at a worrying low. Still firmly looking over their shoulder, the former Italian giants hold just a five-point buffer over the bottom-three and they have shown a host of issues on either side of the international break. Including that sluggish display on their travels last time out, The Purples have mustered just a single Serie A point in their last four contests. Also suffering a pair of 3-2 defeats against both AC Milan and Atalanta on their worrying spell, Head Coach Giuseppe Iachini will have a real headache over his side’s glaring issues at the back. Without a clean sheet to their name in any of their last eight top-flight contests, it’s also worth highlighting that Fiorentina have conceded over 2.5 goals in four of their last six appearances.
