Bianca St-Georges is playing for more than just sh*ts and giggles – Equalizer Soccer

It hasn’t always been a smooth journey for Canada’s Bianca St-Georges, but she finally feels that she is exactly where she is supposed to be with her club and country.

The 25 year-old has had to overcome a meniscus tear in both knees. The first coming in 2019 and in second in 2021 after being called up ahead of the 2021 SheBelieves Cup.

During her road back to full strength St-Georges wanted to be back on the pitch with her Chicago Red Stars teammates as quickly as possible. St-Georges had to learn to take things in stride and not push herself too soon.

“It was a long journey,” St-Georges told The Equalizer from Monterrey, Mexico, during the Concacaf W Championship. “The thing I had to learn the most is that less is more. Being patient, taking my time, letting it heal, not rushing things. I think as athletes, we always want to go go go, push ourselves, doing everything we can and sometimes that’s the opposite by doing less. I had to learn that hard way because sometimes I would push myself a little too much. I think patience was the number one thing, trust the process. Let my body heal and my time will come.”
