Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig is closing in on a move to the Los Angeles Galaxy, with MLS expert Agustin Galan analyzing the move.
During a live airing of ‘MARCA Transfer’ on MARCA’s Twitch channel, Galan explained the details behind the midfielder’s move to the California side.
“Right now in MLS, you can have three designated players per team,” he said.
“The problem is that right now at the Galaxy, those three positions are held by Javier Hernandez, Douglas Costa and Kevin Cabral.
“If Riqui Puig joins the Galaxy, he wouldn’t receive a designated player contract.
“There are some ways for him to earn more than most of the players, but his salary would be significantly lower than the one he is receiving at Barcelona.”
Shaqiri is the highest paid MLS player
“Chicharito is one of the highest paid players in MLS, but Shaqiri tops the list at 8 million dollars,” Galan added.
“The players who are outside that designation are in the million, million and a half per season.”
