Barcelona In the XI against Atletico Madrid
Barcelona have been left behind in the title race after dropping as many as six points after the coronavirus-enforced break, but one of the few bright sparks has been the performances of Riqui Puig.
Quique Setien introduced the talented academy graduate into the starting line-up against Atletico Madrid and the 20-year-old paid back his coach’s confidence by producing a very good performance.
“He has been at a very high level,” Setien said of Riqui Puig after the Atletico draw.
“We have all seen him.
“He has committed himself to everything we have asked him, with will and quality.
“This is the way to go on, of course.
“I am delighted with their performance.
“The club and the fans should be too.
“They have a great footballer there. “
Riqui Puig came off the bench in the game against Athletic Club and gave his team the push to manage a 1-0 victory.
Then, he started in Vigo against Celta and was one of the players to stand out, while he was the only midfielder to play the full 90 minutes in the clash with Atletico.
Riqui Puig grew in the game against Los Rojiblancos and gave an extra boost with his ambition and his energy.
Together with Ansu Fati, they are Barcelona‘s most exciting prospects and two players that have come through the club’s famed La Masia academy.
