La Liga giants Barcelona have, on Friday, been handed a timely boost on the personnel front.
Barca back in action
Ronald Koeman’s men are set for an absolutely crucial week ahead, when it comes to the club’s domestic prospects for the 2021/22 season.
After rattling off a pair of much-needed wins over the course of the last week, the Blaugrana will now turn their attentions towards three league outings in the space of seven days.
First up comes the biggest of all, in the form of a Clasico showdown with fierce rivals Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon.
Next will be a clash with high-flying Rayo Vallecano – a side who actually sit a place clear of Barca in the Spanish top-flight – next Wednesday.
And the Catalan giants will round out their endeavours for the month of October in a must-win meeting with Alaves a week from tomorrow.
As such, ahead of a potentially season-defining stretch for his side, it goes without saying that Ronald Koeman will be desperate to have as many of his key performers as possible fit and available to feature.
And, as outlined above, on Friday, the Blaugrana have been handed a timely boost.
This comes in the form of the return to fitness of forgotten man Ousmane Dembele.
French international Dembele, tipped for a potential Newcastle United switch this week, has not featured to this point in the campaign, owing to a knee injury picked up whilst on international duty during the summer.
As per a report from the reliable TV3, however, the former Borussia Dortmund man is now on the verge of a comeback.
Dembele is understood to have undergone a medical examination in Finland on Thursday, which saw him cleared for an imminent return to the pitch.
And though an appearance in El Clasico this weekend looks altogether unlikely, Dembele could well mark his season debut against Rayo in five days’ time.
