Atletico Madrid Some way clear of Sevilla and Villarreal
Atletico Madrid’s participation in the 2020/21 Champions League is looking more and more likely after their latest win against Mallorca on Friday.
Diego Simeone‘s side have 17 points from 21 since the restart – only dropping points with draws at San Mames and the Camp Nou – and have climbed from sixth into third, now boasting a significant cushion over Sevilla.
The Andalusians aren’t in action until Monday, when they take on Eibar, while Villarreal meet Barcelona on Sunday.
Atleti are now five points clear of Sevilla and eight clear of Villarreal, making their Champions League status appear comfortable.
