Aston Villa Look to Offer Jack Grealish New 5-Year Deal Amid Man Utd Interest

Aston Villa are set to offer captain Jack Grealish a new contract worth £100,000 per week as they look to fend off interest from Manchester United among others, while Tyrone Mings and John McGinn are also in line for new deals.

Grealish netted a vital goal on the final day of the Premier League season to help retain Villa’s top flight status, but his fine form in 2019/20 has led to much talk about his long-term future at the club, with Man Utd the team most keen on his services.

After putting in a man of the match performance to help his side overcome Arsenal 1-0 on matchday 37, the 24-year-old refused to say definitively that he will still be a Villa player next campaign. Had Villa been relegated, the likelihood of Grealish leaving would have increased, while their asking price would also have dropped.

But having retained their Premier League status, the Villans are looking to stand firm in their valuation of their star man as they hold out for a whopping £80m. Despite this, United remain ‘determined’ to land their man. The Sun now report that Villa will look to offer Grealish a new and improved five-year contract in an attempt to convince him to snub interest from elsewhere and commit his future to the club.

It is noted that the playmaker currently earns around £70,000 per week, but the new deal will see him pocket around £100,000 per week. The club’s owners have ‘no intention’ of losing the Englishman this summer and will back Dean Smith in the transfer market to ensure Grealish has better quality around him for the 2020/21 campaign.

Grealish isn’t the only player the club are looking to tie down to a new deal, however, with Mings and McGinn both set to be rewarded for their efforts in 2019/20 as well.

Despite their (somewhat unsuccessful) spending spree last summer, around £100m will be made available for Smith this summer in order to make three or four additions. The Premier League outfit have asked about the availability of Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard, who has been linked with a move to England.

Elsewhere, the club are also interested in Brentford’s Said Benrahma and a potential move could be boosted by the Bees’ playoff final defeat to Fulham on Tuesday.
