Arsenal will hope to avoid dropping any more points when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Sunday.
The Gunners have finished as runners-up in the Premier League during each of the past two seasons, but manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping to see his side go one better this time around.
Despite a strong start to the new campaign, Arsenal have already dropped points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton and Hove Albion last time out.
That result leaves Arteta’s side fourth in the top flight table, two points behind leaders Manchester City.
Off the pitch, the North London side are reportedly set to assess the future of one of their players at the end of the current campaign.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal will assess Fabio Vieira’s future next summer, when the midfielder’s loan spell at Porto ends.
Vieira, 24, joined the Portuguese side on a season-long loan deal earlier this summer, but the deal didn’t include an option–to-buy clause.
Romano claims that this is because his parent club want to monitor his progression and assess his future in 12 months.
Vieira joined Arsenal from Porto in the summer of 2022 and has since made 49 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions.
He has failed to establish himself as a regular starter for Arteta, though, and has therefore been loaned back to his former club to gain valuable first team experience.
The Portuguese has scored three goals and provided nine assists during his time at Arsenal, and his versatility likely appeals to Arteta as he is able to play in a variety of different positions including on the right wing or as an attacking midfielder.
