Angel Reese sends powerful message via Deion Sanders following LSU drama

LSU basketball standout Angel Reese has yet to directly address the recent upheaval surrounding her playing status.

The drama unfolded when she was benched for the entire second half of the Lady Tigers’ substantial 30-point victory over Kent State on November 14. Adding to the speculation, Reese did not attend the team’s subsequent road win over Southeastern Louisiana last Friday.

Angel Reese, LSU’s player of the year, poses for Swimsuit Issue: “I embrace my body and who I am”

Despite the silence, the All-American forward shared a powerful sermon on her Instagram Story from Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders. In the video, Sanders emphasized self-worth and resilience.

“Your opinion of me is not the opinion that I have of myself. You didn’t make me, so you can’t break me,” Sanders declared.

Reese, currently navigating a tumultuous start to her senior year at LSU, faces ongoing rumors suggesting her suspension is linked to academic challenges.

    How did Angel Reese respond?

In response, Reese took to social media to urge against believing everything one reads, emphasizing the need to scrutinize information critically. Her Instagram Story featured an image of an LSU court with a cart full of basketballs, creating further intrigue.

The controversy surrounding Reese extends beyond the basketball court, as reports suggest she was benched due to an attitude issue.

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, when pressed about the decision to bench Reese against Kent State, referred to it as a coach’s decision without providing further details. Reese’s absence in the subsequent game against SE Louisiana fueled further speculation.

“It’s very obvious Angel was not in uniform. Angel is a part of this basketball team, and we hope to see her sooner than later,” Mulkey explained.

In the midst of these developments, social media skirmishes emerged involving Reese’s mother, Angel Reese Webb, and LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson’s mother, Kia Brooks.

Allegations surfaced about Reese’s academic performance, with Brooks claiming she has a “2.0 or less GPA” and urging Webb to “take responsibility for you and your daughter’s actions,” according to Just Women’s Sports.

As Reese faces a challenging period, the situation remains fluid, with unanswered questions lingering about her future playing status and the complexities surrounding her senior year at LSU.
