Alessandro Florenzi returns to AS Roma after Valencia stint

Alessandro Florenzi spent the last six months on loan at the Mestalla but returns to Rome after a handful of appearances under his belt.

After failing to secure regular first-team minutes, Alessandro Florenzi traveled to Spain to reignite his career.

The injury-marred right-back was plagued by fitness issues and could only manage 14 appearances for Valencia, 12 of them coming in La Liga.

In a final goodbye, Florenzi thanked Valencia for the opportunity and shared his disappointment in failing to qualify for Europa League.

“Valencia welcomed me with affection and warmth. We needed to challenge many teams on the pitch, then we found ourselves playing for a single team against an unexpected and terrible opponent (the coronavirus pandemic).”

“Thank you, thank you truly for making me feel at home. Thanks to all the members of the club: from the first to the last. Thanks to my teammates: a group of fantastic players. Bye, Valencia…thank you!!” Florenzi said in his Instagram post.

Upon return, the Roman has to sort out his career. With AS Roma deeming him surplus to requirements, Florenzi has to decide on his next employers.

Atalanta is interested in securing his services and offer Champions League football. The Bergamo based entity is flying high and are unbeaten in 18 fixtures.
